This school consisted of a large one-room red brick building with (attached to the south so as to form an L) a much smaller wooden building painted red, always known as the little room. The large brick part was called the big room. The little room was opened and closed as needed. Both rooms were heater with wood burned in box stoves. Around 1916 a small cellar was dug out under the big room and a coal furnace was installed. Around the same time several more lots to the north were bought to enlarge the playground.
